Job Description

  1. Maintains stationary or mobile position as assigned during normal school hours and for extra-curricular activities.
  2. Conducts full sweeps of interior/exterior to monitor presence of any students, parents or unauthorized visitors on a regular basis.
  3. Issues and checks passes while on post; keeps watchful eye for unusual activity; monitors hallway activity and keeps the peace.
  4. Removes unruly students from class and other school locations.
  5. Ensures smooth transition to and from classes by enforcing rules.
  6. Ensures compliance with district policies such as those relating to "No Smoking," attendance/tardiness, student behavior, etc., and reports non-compliance  issues to administration.
  7. Assists administration with safe, orderly dismissal.
  8. Ensures unauthorized personnel do not enter the building.
  9. Debriefs with administrative team on day's activities.
10. Participates as a member of the School Safety Team.
11. May provide security for extracurricular activities before and after school and weekends.
12. Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Principal.
 

Upon completion of the hiring process, including all mandatory paperwork, candidates for all substitute positions must receive WCSD Board approval as a WCSD substitute prior to starting assignment date.

Job Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EITHER: (A) Completion of sixty (60) credit hours of college study in criminal justice, social and/or behavioral sciences or a related field plus two years of work experience with youths, which involved behavioral modification/de-escalation, violence prevention, conflict resolution or related experience;
OR: (B) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency
diploma and four years of direct experience with youths, which involved
behavioral modification/de-escalation, violence prevention, conflict
resolution or related experience;
OR: (C) Four years of experience in law enforcement. (e.g. Police Officer, Police Lieutenant etc.) or four years of satisfactory military experience;
OR: (D) An equivalent combination of training and experience as indicated in (A), (B) & (C) above.


NOTE: Your degree or college credit must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education.

Fingerprint clearance through NYS TEACH (NYSED) is required (Applicant for Employee)
