Substitute Administrator 2024-2025

The Wappingers Central School District is seeking substitute administrator candidates. 

Upon completion of the hiring process, including all mandatory paperwork, candidates for all substitute positions must receive WCSD Board approval as a WCSD substitute prior to starting assignment date.  

$375.00 to $400.00/per diem
Substitute School Monitor 2024-2025
  1. Patrols school lobbies and corridors.    
  2. Maintains order in hallways, study halls, dining areas, gymnasiums, locker rooms, and activity areas.     
  3. Issues and checks passes.     
  4. Supervises and/or attempts to calm students removed from class for disciplinary reasons.      
  5. Intervenes in classroom confrontations and student fights and, if necessary, may help subdue students whose conduct presents an actual danger to themselves or others.
  6. Checks storage rooms, lavatories, etc., for students reported missing from class.
  7. Escorts students to and from the cafeteria at lunch time and/or special appointments.
  8. Informs superiors of observations of student behavior.
  9. Oversees students passing between classes in locker rooms and on premises before and after school.
  10. Monitors students in parking lots and supervises the loading of buses.
  11. May collect attendance reports.
  12. May assist in rendering first aid in emergencies.
  13. May help children in lower grades with wearing apparel.
  14. Does related work as required.

Substitute Teacher 2024-2025

The Wappingers Central School District is seeking substitute teaching candidates in all subject areas. Long term assignments may become available to substitutes with NYS teaching certifications throughout the school year.

Certified substitute teachers will be paid $120 per day. Uncertified substitute teachers will be paid $105 per day. 

Upon completion of the hiring process, including all mandatory paperwork, candidates for all substitute positions must receive WCSD Board approval as a WCSD substitute prior to starting assignment date.  

$105.00 to $120.00/per diem
Substitute Typist 2024-2025
  1. Utilizes a keyboard to prepare letters, payrolls, reports, bulletins, applications and a variety of other material from rough draft.
  2. Answers telephone and acts as office receptionist, giving out information of routine nature.
  3. Operates a copying machine, calculator, computer, fax machine, or other simple office machines. 
  4. Maintains simple accounting and a variety of other records in accordance with prescribed office routine.
  5. Sorts, indexes, and files.                                  
  6. May enter data into terminal from forms and printed copy.
  7. Does related work as required.

Substitute Health Teaching Assistant 2024-2025

1. Assists teachers by working with individual pupils or groups of pupils on special instructional projects.
2. Assists in preparing lesson plans, individualized education programs (IEPs) and student grades.
3. Prepares planned instructional materials, attendance reports and class reports.
4. Supervises student involved in non-classroom activities under the general supervision of a teacher.
5. Implements/follows teachers instructions of classroom procedures; reinforcement, philosophy and consistency.
6. Makes appropriate referrals when difficulties arise and teacher is not readily available.
7. Assists with clerical duties related to instruction.
8. Demonstrates an understanding of students’ problems, keeps a firm hand, yet is courteous.
9. Attends Open House and grade level meetings.
10. Keeps records, writes lessons on the board, corrects students’ work.
11. Does related work as required.11. Understands and is aware of medical needs of students.
12. Assists with behavior management programs and techniques.
13. Feeds or help students feed themselves.
14. Assists students with toileting.
15. Pushes student in wheelchair.
16. Assists with loading and unloading of students on the buses.

Substitute Registered Professional Nurse 2024-2025

1. Protecting and maintaining student’s health by providing professional nursing services in accordance with
    Nursing Standards and NYS licensing.
2. Providing NYS mandated and annual screening programs including vision, hearing, height, weight and 
     scoliosis.
3.  Facilitating NYS mandated immunization and communicable disease control requirements, as well as 
     providing influenza immunization education.
4.  Identifying and assessing students’ health needs, implementing services and evaluating plans of care which
     impact student learning and achievement or safety.
5.  Participating as members of the school’s multi-disciplinary team, interpreting medical data and writing 
     objectives for the health component of the IEP and/or 504 plans.
6.  Acting as liaison between home and school, and community providers for medical issues.
7.  Identifying and reporting school building safety or environmental issues which impact student or staff health 
     to the building administrator.
8.  Participating as members of the school’s Core Safety Teams.
