Registered Professional NurseWRPNA1

The Wappingers Central School District is seeking a full-time Registered Professional Nurse. This position is responsible for providing, at one or more schools, health services for students and staff, and acts as advocate, liaison  and consultant on health-related issues for students, families and school personnel. The School Nurse is an integral part of the WCSD school program in supporting an optimum physical, mental, emotional and social climate for all students and staff. The services provided by the School Nurse include health care delivery, health counseling and health program and policy development.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

This position involves the performance of practical nursing activities in assisting with the care and treatment of educationally disabled students classified as Multiple Handicapped by the Committee on Special Education. The work is performed under the general supervision of a School Physician.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
1. Accompanies the student to and from classes and to and from school, if needed;
2. Assists during the instructional process when child's medical condition impedes learning;
3. Performs routine practical nursing activities in the care of students;
4. Administers medications to students;
5. May provide tracheotomy care: suctioning, cleaning, maintaining airway from one to five times during the day;
6. Provides assistance in applying, removing and locking braces;
7. Observes, records and reports any changes in student's condition to treating physician;
8. Does related work as required.

$40,000.
Cook

1.    Prepares and cooks meat, fish, poultry, soups, vegetables, macaroni, desserts, salads and other foods. 
2.    Prepares cakes, pies, rolls and a variety of other desserts. 
3.    Supervises and participates in the cleaning of serving, storage and dining areas, and in the care of equipment. 
4.    May supervise the proper storing of food. 
5.    May keep simple related records. 
6.    Does related work as required.     

Additional:

May supervise Assistant Cook or Food Service Helper.

The Wappingers Central School District is seeking coaching applicants for a variety of openings. 

Salary is based on the WCT Contractual coaching rates. 

School Monitor 2023-2024
  1. Patrols school lobbies and corridors.    
  2. Maintains order in hallways, study halls, dining areas, gymnasiums, locker rooms, and activity areas.     
  3. Issues and checks passes.     
  4. Supervises and/or attempts to calm students removed from class for disciplinary reasons.      
  5. Intervenes in classroom confrontations and student fights and, if necessary, may help subdue students whose conduct presents an actual danger to themselves or others.
  6. Checks storage rooms, lavatories, etc., for students reported missing from class.
  7. Escorts students to and from the cafeteria at lunch time and/or special appointments.
  8. Informs superiors of observations of student behavior.
  9. Oversees students passing between classes in locker rooms and on premises before and after school.
  10. Monitors students in parking lots and supervises the loading of buses.
  11. May collect attendance reports.
  12. May assist in rendering first aid in emergencies.
  13. May help children in lower grades with wearing apparel.
  14. Does related work as required.

Substitute Registered Professional Nurse 2023-2024

1. Protecting and maintaining student’s health by providing professional nursing services in accordance with
    Nursing Standards and NYS licensing.
2. Providing NYS mandated and annual screening programs including vision, hearing, height, weight and 
     scoliosis.
3.  Facilitating NYS mandated immunization and communicable disease control requirements, as well as 
     providing influenza immunization education.
4.  Identifying and assessing students’ health needs, implementing services and evaluating plans of care which
     impact student learning and achievement or safety.
5.  Participating as members of the school’s multi-disciplinary team, interpreting medical data and writing 
     objectives for the health component of the IEP and/or 504 plans.
6.  Acting as liaison between home and school, and community providers for medical issues.
7.  Identifying and reporting school building safety or environmental issues which impact student or staff health 
     to the building administrator.
8.  Participating as members of the school’s Core Safety Teams.

Substitute School Psychologist / Social Worker / Counselor 2023-2024

The Wappingers Central School District is seeking substitute psychologists / social workers / counselors. Long term assignments may become available throughout the school year.

Candidates for all substitute positions must receive WCSD Board approval as a WCSD substitute psychologist / social worker / counselor prior to starting assignment date.  

Certified substitute psychologists / social workers / counselors will be paid $120 per day.

Certified substitute teachers will be paid $120 per day. Uncertified substitute teachers will be paid $100 per day.
